Ouverture de l'exposition saisonnière à la bibliothèque de Morin-Heights

Vendredi le 24 juin, le maire Tim Watchorn, et les conseillers Jean Dutil et Leigh McLoed, se sont joints au membres d'Arts Morin-Heights pour souigner l'ouverture officielle de l'exposition qui se tiendra tout l'été à la bibliothèque de Morin-Heights. Chaque artiste y présente une œuvre, les visites se font selon l'horaire de la bibliothèque ou sur rendez-vous.

Représentant les outils des peintres : tubes de couleur, pinceaux, jusqu'aux broches de la toile, le gâteau préparé par Shawna Dunbar constituait la pièce maîtresse de la cérémonie. Malgré tout, le maire Watchorn et sa fille Emma ont dû se résigner à mettre le chef d'œuvre en pièces.

Mesdames Joan Beauregard et Ginette Fontaine, respectivement présidente et vice-présidente d'Arts Morin-Heights, ont souhaité la bienvenue à tous et remercié la municipalité pour son aide. L'amélioration de la vitalité du village constitue un des principaux objectifs de cette exposition. Le maire Watchorn félicite le groupe pour ses efforts et ajoute que la municipalité est fière d'appuyer cette nouvelle et excitante initiative au cœur du village.

Summer-long exhibit opens at Morin-Heights library

Members of Arts Morin-Heights were joined by Mayor Tim Watchorn, and councillors Jean Dutil and Leigh Mcleod Friday, June 24, 2011 for the official launch of the group's summer-long exhibition at the Morin-Heights library. The exhibit features one work by each member, and can be visited during library hours or by special arrangement.

A highlight of the opening was Shawna Dunbar's spectacular "edible art" - a cake depicting a painter's work space, complete with paint tubes, brushes and easel; and accurate right down to the staples on the back of the (edible of course) canvas. Although it seemed almost a shame to cut it, the honours were done by Mayor Watchorn and his daughter Emma.

Speaking during the reception, Arts Morin-Heights President Joan Beauregard and Vice-President Ginette Fontaine welcomed everyone to the event and thanked the municipality for its support. They added that one of the main reasons for creating this installation in the heart of the village is to promote the vitality of the village centre. Mayor Watchorn congratulated the group for its efforts, and said the municipality is very pleased to support this exciting new venture in the heart of the village.
